So, I began taking piano lessons at an early age and went on to major in music at Lamar University in Beaumont, TX. Both my parents were musically inclined and even though money was always tight, they managed to make sure that all of us received private musical instruction. My father was an administrator at a Christian college and my mother stayed at home to raise six children. I was very fortunate to have grown up in a small town in southern Illinois where family, faith and good friends were of the utmost importance.
My favorite quote is "It takes a lifetime to learn how to live it." And we are living and learning right now. I found that teaching was my gift and I enjoyed teaching many years both privately and at Klein ISD, where I worked hard to integrate the arts into all areas of the curriculum - it made learning so much more fun! I have also been a church music director, a glee club director, a chess club director, OM coach, Theater Arts coach, math teacher, and a presenter at many teacher programs. I have a degree in music from the University of Texas. Once it was time for college, music took over. At the same time I was dancing all over the Mainland area, I was also in the school choir and the church choir. I danced at many places in Houston and Galveston. I became an assistant teacher for my ballet teacher, Doris Hede, at an early age and earned a scholarship to the Houston Youth Allegro Ballet Company. When I was very young I started singing and dancing in LaMarque, Tx. We have found growth, support, and friendships within our group. We started singing together to make a difference in our community and we are doing just that and more. I am Annette, the proud director of The Heart-Lites.
